Criteria

Seed money is available for purposes or projects whose intent matches the mission of the Colorado Rural Health Center - "Enhancing healthcare services in Colorado by providing information, education, linkages, tools & energy toward addressing rural healthcare issues." As you can imagine, there is a great deal of flexibility within this criterion. Applicants are welcome to contact CRHC to see if an idea meets the general intent of this program before filing out the application form.

Amounts

The maximum amount of an award is $500. Smaller requests are encouraged. A member can only receive one grant per calendar year.

Eligibility

The applicant must be rural. A rural area is defined as not part of a metropolitan area (like Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs, Grand Junction, Pueblo, etc.) AND has a population of under 25,000.

Applicants must be CRHC investing members at the Organizational or Corporate level. While any person in the member organization or corporation can apply, the individual listed as the contact person for the membership must approve of the Seed Grant application.

Expectations

These funds are intended as "seed" money and should be only a portion of a larger project or idea. The applicant must at least "match" the amount requested and provide the total estimated cost of your project so that the Board Members can consider the portion of the costs that they are being asked to provide. (i.e.: the seed money pays a workshop registration fee and the agency covers travel costs; the seed money pays for a FAX machine and the agency covers the phone line costs; the seed money buys a single piece of equipment for a new clinic or ambulance).

The applicant must agree to submit a follow-up letter explaining how the grant was used and the realized benefits, any photographs if taken, publicity and media coverage, such as newspaper articles if available, and applicant must be willing to share information with other rural healthcare providers through e-mail, phone calls, and presentations.

Application Process

A one-page application form is available from CRHC or by clicking here to print a form. These forms can be submitted to CRHC at any time.

Award Process

Callie Preheim, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, will review application for general appropriateness and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. Awards will be considered and granted by the Board on a monthly basis.
